We all get nervous at the beginning of a new chapter in our lives. What we will become or what's expected of us. It can be a scary and daunting experience starting something new such as college, not knowing whether or not you will fit in.
Many people come from secondary school with the concept that college will be more-or-less the same but in a more focused field. However, college is more about discovering your potential and learning how to shape your future into what you want it to be.
You will have days where you absolutely hate college so much and will not want to continue. You will also have days when you're in a giddy mood. While it is fun to laugh and joke around, it is also very distracting and immature if done all the time and when other students are trying to learn. It is important that mature students and students who are just out of school use these months and classes to learn how to be "mature".
You will learn if college is for you throught the first semester and first year. The first day can be a little off putting or even too inviting depending on your choice of course. Most students feel nervous and lost on their first day which is very understandable, after all, this is the first day of what their future will be like. You will meet new people, some of which you click with and others you won't like, much like most things in life. Just remember that you and everyone else is there to learn and make a good career for themselves, so dont take that away from them or yourself. Keep pushing through, smiling and keep well organised and you should breeze through your first year.
Remember, if it doesnt challenge you, it won't change you.
